Professional Clubmaking vs. Retail Fitting

There’s a big difference between buying a golf club and having a golf club professionally built for you

I recently built a Wilson Dynapower Max Driver for a client at Kilkee Golf Club, using a UST MAMIYA LIN-Q shaft, selected and built specifically around his swing characteristics.

After his first full round, this was his feedback:

“Hi Peter. I’ve played my first full round with new driver in Kilkee today. Hit every fairway, delighted with it, so much better. Most of the hits dead straight, just one or two slight fade but still on fairway.”

That is exactly what professional clubmaking is about.

A good clubmaker isn’t simply matching you to a head and shaft from a manufacturer’s fitting matrix.

We look at the whole golf club — your swing, delivery, ball flight, impact tendencies, playing ability and goals — and then consider factors such as:

• Shaft profile and weight
• Shaft length
• Flex and frequency
• Swing weight
• Total club weight
• Grip size and type
• Loft and lie
• Face angle
• Shaft installation and orientation
• Final build specifications

The objective isn’t necessarily to make you swing faster.

It’s to build a club that allows your swing to produce a better and more repeatable result.

Professional clubmakers have worked with millions of golfers over many decades, helping players of all abilities experience improvements in:

⛳ Accuracy
⛳ Consistency
⛳ Confidence
⛳ Ball striking
⛳ And, in some cases, additional distance

And sometimes the biggest improvement isn’t another 10 yards.

It’s hitting the fairway more often.

It’s reducing the severity of your misses.

It’s knowing that when you stand over the ball, the club in your hands has been built specifically for you.

That’s the difference between simply purchasing a golf club and having one professionally made for your game.

The right club doesn’t change your swing. It can help your swing perform better.
